Obed HABUMUGISHA was born in 2002 and raised in Rwanda from a young age they displayed a keen interest in art,frequently drawing,painting and sculpture scenes inspired by my dear mama . One special gift I’ve inherited from my mother since childhood is her talent in handcrafts. She used to make small baskets, mats, and sweaters. I saw her as a kind of fashion designer, although she never did it professionally she did it mostly for fun, especially during holidays. As time went on, she started teaching me and showing me her creations. From a young age, she would often tell me how much she loved it. For me, this truly made me see myself as someone who would carry on that passion and preserve my family’s heritage. Seeing local galleries and museums at a young age sparked a love for creativity that would shape the kind of art they would make in the future. Hobed’s work is reflection of their deep connection to Rwandan culture and landscapes blending traditional influences with contemporary artistic expression. through their art Hobed seeks to capture and share the beauty and stories of their heritage,offering viewers a glimpse into the rich tapestry of African life.
